Hi! I’m Kalene. I work with people who find it easy to show compassion to others but struggle to have self-compassion. They're often perfectionists, people-pleasers, helpers, empaths, highly sensitive people (HSPs), and overthinkers. I have additional training and experience in treating anxiety/depression and working with survivors of sexual trauma (including childhood sexual abuse, and assault/rape in adulthood). I find that people in these populations can be particularly vulnerable to being unkind to themselves. I specialize in helping people quiet the inner critic, lessen feelings of shame, and find peace with themselves. My aim to is to help you unravel both the internal sources of self-criticism (such as painful parts of your past, negative thoughts you hold on to, and a sense of emotions controlling you rather than the other way around), and external sources of pain (like stressful life transitions, ruptures in relationships, and the impact of cultural/societal norms). With a background in mindfulness and Othmer Method neurofeedback, I strive to help you experience and practice self-compassion & healing rather than just talking about it. Whether we work together 1:1 or in a therapy group, short- or long-term, I want to help you gain practical skills for self-acceptance and self-compassion that you can use for a lifetime.
