Therapy can be a difficult journey that calls for us to be truthful and vulnerable. This can be difficult for many to achieve due to past trauma, previous unhealthy interactions, or defense mechanisms that we have created in order to get to the next moment. For the first stage of therapy, I work with clients to establish safety and improve emotional regulation skills. This is important because we need to stay in control of our body’s reactions when talking about situations that have played an impact on our lives in order to obtain safety. I will use a variety of therapeutic approaches based on your needs, situation, and personal strengths/desires in order to work towards your goals. I have experience working with EMDR, Polyvagal Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (R.E.B.T.), Person Centered Therapy (P.C.T.), Existential Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and more. I also have many years experience helping people who have struggled with addiction and mental health disorders. I take a harm reduction approach and let clients decide what they believe successful treatment means.
