With 16 years of experience, often clients tell me in the initial session that they have never experienced therapy in the way that I work. Exciting changes occur in the initial meeting! Together, we will work to uncover and undermine what is driving your symptoms of anxiety and / or depression, relationship and communication issues, medically difficult to explain symptoms, & self-sabotaging behaviors. I am very active in session and will not passively listen. Clients with whom I have worked report lasting changes throughout their lives. You can experience internal shifts that will change your life externally. You can feel better! I have advanced training, and experience teaching and supervising other therapists, in an emotionally focused therapy (or EFT) called ISTDP. This way of working is effective for many clients, from the high-achieving to those struggling to perform the basic tasks of life. Therapy using an EFT allows for relief, and long-lasting relief, from many symptoms. I meet virtually with clients who are located in either Virginia or WDC at the time of service, and for either 90 or 45 minutes. I have found (along with colleagues from around the world using ISTDP skills) that video- based sessions are as effective as in person meetings. I am happy to offer a 15 min. free phone consult.
